I am going to start by getting right down to it, this is what I have been waiting for. I would consider myself a techy kind of guy. I like things that work and work well. I like to know that when I put on my snowboard jacket that I can ride all day, staying warm and dry, no matter what Mother Nature throws at me. Part of the process of staying warm and dry is proper ventilation. With the M1 vest, Moose Racing nailed this one. The front panel is made of a wind and water proof material to keep you core dry and warm, while the back panel is made from light perforated material for ventilation. This combination works great for aggressive offroad racing and riding. While in the tight woods the ventilation on the back makes sure you don’t get over heated but when you pop onto a high speed section the front panel blocks the wind and keeps you from getting chilled. I was able to prove this functionality at this years WFO D17 Hooppole HS. It was a balmy 40 degrees that day with 3 inches of fresh snow the night before. The race consisted of tight woods and open fields. Before starting the race I was questioning wearing the new M1 vest since it was still new and I did not want to get it dirty, then realized that is what it was intended to do (get dirty) and decided to break it in. I am glad I did as it paid for itself in just one race. If you are in the market for new riding vest, I would highly suggest the NEW Moose Racing M1 vest.
