Black Hills
Below is Duey's take on riding in the Black Hills.
"
There are good trails there… If you have a trail guide. At this
time it is kind of like a large scale BRF of 10+
years ago. The locals know where to go… But if you went out there
with the intent of riding, and have never
been to the area before, you would have a VERY tough time finding the trails
and would be disappointed.
Unfortunately, I think the forest service has already started closing down
some of the free lance riding and I
do not see the future of off riding in the BH as having a very good future.
The gang from Minn, that have
been riding these trails for 10 + years appear to realize this also… But
there does not appear to be much of a
grass roots effort to ‘map the trails’ for forest service
acceptance. It will be interested to see where this goes in
the next couple of years."
"But; to the point… Traveling there in a big pusher motor home,
with Randy Knox, ‘Dammit’ Dick Rodha,
Brian ‘Dixiie’ Dixon, and Gary Kobyco WAS a good time. Gary
did all the driving… We cracked the 1st beer
at 12:00:15 and broke out the card deck an hour late. It was Knox’s
game, he made the rules, and won all but
2 games. (500 Rummy)"
